In light of growing controversy around the proposal of a second span of the Ambassador Bridge, this proposal seeks to address traffic issues with a more environmentally sustainable proposal. Detroit-Windsor Commuter Rail Bridge will alternative traffic flow issues by providing a mass transit option to the many Detroit and Windsor residents who commute across the border daily. The commuter rail will link into the existing Detroit "People Mover" rail system and extend across the Detroit River down Windsor's Ouellette Avenue. It will also introduce a convenient pedestrian walkway above for runners, bikers, tourists, and shoppers.
